Nnoboa Space

Nnoboa Space is a creative co-working space dedicated to empowering young artists, designers, and professionals in the Sekondi-Takoradi area of Ghana. Launched in 2023 through a collaboration between the Social Entrepreneurship Hub and Code for Afrika e.V.,Germany and funded by Sächsische Jugendstiftung (Genialsozial) in Dresden, Germany, Nnoboa Space offers hands-on training, access to essential equipment (such as sewing machines and video editing tools), and business skill development for emerging talents in fashion, arts, and design.

 

Concept and Philosophy

Nnoboa Space is inspired by the ancient Akan tradition of “Nnoboa,” which means mutual aid and cooperation, “you help me, I help you.” This principle is at the heart of the hub’s community-driven approach, fostering a collaborative spirit among creatives who benefit from learning, sharing, and working together toward sustainable development and creative entrepreneurship.

 

Key Activities and Offerings  

– Provides a co-working studio environment equipped with tools for sewing, design, and multimedia production.  

– Offers training and mentorship programs focused on fashion, the circular economy, and sustainable creative practices.  

– Organizes exhibitions, fashion shows, and public events in both Ghana and Germany to showcase participants’ work and enhance their visibility.  

– Acts as a launching pad for young entrepreneurs and startups in the creative sector, offering vital networking opportunities and business skills support.  

 

Impact and Collaborations 

Nnoboa Space has established strong partnerships with organizations in Ghana and Germany, including educational institutions, youth empowerment foundations, and social and sustainability hubs. The initiative plays a significant role in developing local talent, promoting sustainability, and nurturing a circular economy mindset within the creative community of Sekondi-Takoradi.

Impact Summary

The Nnoboa Space empowered young fashion entrepreneurs to turn textile waste into value, while gaining business skills, creative exposure, and access to incubation and masterclass training to scale their ventures.
